This medication is used to lower elevated total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, Apo B, triglycerides, and non-HDL cholesterol levels, and to increase HDL cholesterol levels in patients with primary hypercholesterolemia, particularly heterozygous familial and non-familial or mixed dyslipidemia. It is also administered as an adjunct to other lipid-lowering therapies in patients with homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia and can be used alone when those therapies are not effective. This medication is used in conjunction with dietary therapy to reduce cardiovascular risk, and comprehensive management considering various risk factors is essential. It is important to identify and address any other secondary causes that may induce dyslipidemia before treatment. This medication helps effectively control cholesterol levels and improves vascular health.
