Improvement of lipid levels through cholesterol reduction and HDL increase in hypercholesterolemia (primary, homozygous familial) and dyslipidemia
This medication is used as an adjunct to dietary therapy for lowering elevated total cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol, Apo B, triglycerides, and non-HDL cholesterol levels in patients with primary hypercholesterolemia (heterozygous familial and non-familial) and mixed dyslipidemia. Additionally, it is administered as an adjunct or alternative therapy in patients with homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia when other lipid-lowering treatments are ineffective. This medication helps reduce the risk of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease caused by hypercholesterolemia by managing blood lipid levels. However, this medication has not been studied in certain types of dyslipidemia and should be used in conjunction with an appropriate diet. Prior to administration, other causative diseases or the influence of medications should be confirmed, and the therapeutic effect should be evaluated through regular blood lipid tests. This medication is effectively used for the treatment of hypercholesterolemia and dyslipidemia.
This medication is administered once daily without regard to meals. For primary hypercholesterolemia, it is administered within the dosage range of 10/10mg to 10/80mg per day. A starting dose of 10/10mg or 10/20mg once daily is recommended. If greater LDL-cholesterol reduction is required, a starting dose of 10/40mg once daily is recommended. After initiating treatment or adjusting the dose, lipid levels should be checked at intervals of more than 2 weeks.
This medication may cause serious issues with muscles, so if severe muscle pain or weakness occurs, you should inform your doctor immediately. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant, as well as breastfeeding women, should not take this medication. Additionally, if you are currently taking certain other medications, you must consult your doctor, as taking this medication with them may be dangerous. This medication can affect liver function, so regular liver function tests should be conducted before and during use, and any symptoms of liver dysfunction should be reported immediately. If blood tests indicate high muscle damage markers, this medication may need to be discontinued, so regular testing is necessary. During the course of taking this medication, if symptoms such as severe muscle pain, muscle cramps, muscle weakness, fatigue, fever, etc., occur, you need to inform medical personnel immediately. Additionally, this medication can cause side effects in some patients, such as dyspepsia, abdominal pain, nausea, diarrhea, headache, dizziness, etc., so caution is required. In case of overdose, there is no specific antidote, and appropriate treatment and supportive therapy according to symptoms are needed.
