Improvement of lipids by reducing cholesterol and LDL in hypercholesterolemia (primary, homozygous familial) and dyslipidemia, and increasing HDL
This medication helps reduce total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, Apo B, triglycerides, and non-HDL cholesterol while increasing HDL cholesterol in patients with primary hypercholesterolemia, especially those with heterozygous familial and non-familial dyslipidemia. It is also administered as an adjunct to other lipid-lowering treatments in patients with homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia or when other treatments are ineffective. This medication is used in conjunction with dietary guidelines and is indicated when non-drug treatments such as fat and cholesterol intake restrictions are insufficient. It should be used carefully in patients at high risk of cardiovascular disease, taking into account multiple risk factors. It is important to identify and treat secondary causes of dyslipidemia such as diabetes and hypothyroidism before starting treatment if necessary. This medication is used effectively to improve hypercholesterolemia and dyslipidemia.
This medication is administered once daily regardless of meals. For primary hypercholesterolemia, a starting dose of 10/10mg or 10/20mg once daily is recommended. For patients requiring a greater reduction in LDL cholesterol, a starting dose of 10/40mg once daily is recommended. Cholesterol levels should be checked at least 2 weeks after starting therapy or adjusting dosage to adjust the dosage accordingly. For homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia
