This medication is used for patients who need to take telmisartan and rosuvastatin at the same time. Telmisartan helps treat essential hypertension and reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases. In particular, it lowers the risk of myocardial infarction, stroke, and cardiovascular disease death in high-risk patients who cannot use ACE inhibitors. Rosuvastatin is used as an adjunct treatment when hypercholesterolemia and dyslipidemia cannot be managed by diet and exercise. Additionally, it delays the progression of atherosclerosis and reduces the risk of cardiovascular diseases and stroke. Therefore, this medication is used to manage both hypertension and hyperlipidemia simultaneously to improve cardiovascular health.
Telmisartan: It is recommended to administer 40 mg orally once daily for the treatment of essential hypertension, and it may be initiated at 20 mg depending on the patient. Dosing may be increased up to 80 mg if necessary. For reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease, it is recommended to administer 80 mg orally once daily. This medication may cause side effects such as myalgia or muscle weakness, liver dysfunction, hypotension, or dizziness, so if abnormal symptoms occur, immediate consultation with medical personnel is required. Interactions with other medications may occur, so if you are taking other medications, it is essential to inform your healthcare provider, especially when taking together with antihypertensives, diuretics, anticoagulants, and drugs that affect liver function.
