View approved original text

This medication is used in conjunction with dietary control and exercise therapy to help manage blood sugar levels in patients with type 2 diabetes. It may be administered alone at the beginning of treatment. If blood sugar control is difficult with monotherapy, it may be used together with metformin. If sufficient blood sugar control is not achieved with other diabetes treatments such as sulfonylureas, metformin, thiazolidinedione, or insulin, this medication can be added as an adjunct therapy. It effectively improves blood sugar control tailored to various treatment situations.
