Precautions

This medication is used for the treatment of erectile dysfunction, and the underlying cause must be confirmed through a doctor's diagnosis and physical examination before use. Sexual activity can put a strain on the heart, so patients with cardiovascular disease should be particularly cautious, and if any heart-related symptoms occur during sexual activity, the activity should be stopped immediately and a doctor consulted. This medication can rarely cause an erection lasting more than 4 hours or painful prolonged erections, in which case medical attention should be sought immediately. Taking this medication with nitrate agents or NO donating agents may cause blood pressure to drop to dangerous levels; therefore, it should not be used by those taking these medications. Patients who have recently experienced major cardiovascular conditions such as myocardial infarction, acute cardiac arrest, unstable angina, ventricular arrhythmias, or stroke should not take this medication. Caution is required when administering this medication to patients with penile deformities or blood disorders that present a high risk of prolonged erections, as well as to those with severe renal or liver impairment. This medication should not be combined with other erectile dysfunction treatments and caution is needed when taken with certain alpha-blockers, as low blood pressure may occur. This medication may affect vision or hearing, so if sudden vision loss or hearing reduction occurs, use should be discontinued immediately and healthcare professionals notified. Taking this medication with alcohol may lead to symptoms of low blood pressure and dizziness; therefore, excessive drinking should be avoided. In the event of an overdose, standard emergency treatment should be instituted, as blood dialysis is not significantly effective in removing this medication. It should be stored in a tightly sealed container to protect it from air and moisture. Also, it is recommended to keep it at a temperature between 1 and 30 degrees Celsius.
