How to take

The recommended dosage of this medication, whether as monotherapy or in combination therapy, is 20 mg once daily. It can be taken regardless of meals.

Precautions

This medication should not be administered to certain patients. It is not suitable for patients with hypersensitivity to this drug or for type 1 diabetes patients who require insulin therapy, or those in diabetic ketoacidosis or coma. Additionally, it is not recommended for patients with severe infections or those undergoing surgery, or for patients with severe trauma who may require insulin therapy. The safety of this drug has not been established in patients with severe liver dysfunction, so it should be used with caution. In patients with mild to moderate heart failure, there is limited experience, so caution is needed, and it is advisable not to use it in patients with severe heart failure. The risk of acute pancreatitis has been reported with this medication, so if severe abdominal pain or vomiting occurs, immediate diagnosis and treatment by medical professionals are necessary. During treatment with this drug, symptoms of hypoglycemia may occur, so it is essential to fully understand the symptoms and management of hypoglycemia. Especially when taken in conjunction with insulin or sulfonylureas, the risk of hypoglycemia may increase, necessitating dosage adjustments. This medication may cause side effects such as liver dysfunction, constipation, dizziness, skin rash, and joint pain, so any unusual symptoms should be discussed with a physician. The safety of this drug in pregnant or lactating women has not been established, and its use is not recommended. Safety and efficacy in pediatric patients have also not been confirmed.
