Improvement of moderate to severe Alzheimer's disease symptoms
This medication is used for the treatment of moderate to severe Alzheimer's disease. It helps improve memory and cognitive function in patients, supporting the maintenance of daily living abilities. This treatment contributes to delaying the progression of symptoms and enhancing the quality of life.
This medication is taken orally once a day, at the same time every day. If necessary, it may be administered twice a day. It can be taken regardless of food intake, and is to be taken as an orally disintegrating tablet by placing it on the tongue and allowing it to dissolve without water. Dosage increment method: - First week (Days 1-7): Administer 5 mg daily for 7 days. - Second week (Days 8-14): Administer 10 mg daily for 7 days.
This medication contains the artificial sweetener aspartame, which is broken down in the body into phenylalanine. Therefore, patients with the genetic disorder phenylketonuria should not take this medication. The daily allowable intake of aspartame should be limited to under 40 mg/kg as recommended by WHO, and for the average adult, care should be taken not to exceed a maximum of 2.4 g per day. Patients with allergies to the constituents of this medication, or severely impaired liver or kidney function, should avoid taking it. Especially in cases of very poor kidney function, this medication should not be used. Additionally, this medication contains lactose, so patients with lactose intolerance or related genetic disorders should refrain from taking it. Patients with epilepsy or a history of seizures should use this medication cautiously, as the risk of side effects may increase when taken with certain NMDA antagonists, and it is advisable not to use them together. Patients with urinary tract infections or kidney-related diseases that may increase urinary pH should also exercise caution. The safety of this medication has not been sufficiently confirmed in patients with heart disease or uncontrolled hypertension, so it should be used with caution. When taking this medication, side effects such as dizziness, headache, constipation, drowsiness, and hypertension may occur, and if any adverse reactions are severe or persistent, consultation with medical personnel is recommended. This medication may interact with other drugs, so care should be taken especially when taking it with NMDA antagonists, antipsychotic medications, skeletal muscle relaxants, anticoagulants, etc. Pregnant women or those who may become pregnant should consult a doctor before taking this medication, and breastfeeding mothers are advised to discontinue breastfeeding while taking it. It is best not to use this medication in children or adolescents under the age of 18, as its safety and efficacy have not been established. In the case of overdose, central nervous system symptoms or gastrointestinal symptoms may occur, so immediate medical attention is required. This medication is used for patients with severe Alzheimer's disease, so caution is needed when driving or operating machinery while on it. Finally, this medication should be kept out of the reach of children, and transferring it to other containers is not advisable for maintaining quality.
