This medication is used in conjunction with diet and exercise to help control blood sugar in patients with type 2 diabetes. It is administered alone for patients who are beginning treatment, and if blood sugar control is difficult with monotherapy alone, it is combined with metformin. Furthermore, in cases where blood sugar control is insufficient with monotherapy or combined therapy of sulfonylureas, metformin, thiazolidinediones, insulin, etc., this medication is added to enhance the therapeutic effect. It is used to improve blood sugar control through various treatment methods and combinations.

How to take

Adult dose

This medication is administered once daily at a dose of 100 mg, either as monotherapy or combination therapy, with a maximum daily dose of 100 mg. It can be taken regardless of meals. Precautions

This medication can occasionally cause serious allergic reactions, so if symptoms such as skin rash or difficulty breathing occur, stop taking it immediately and consult a physician. Additionally, if symptoms of pancreatitis such as severe abdominal pain, vomiting, or fever develop while taking this medication, seek medical attention immediately. Patients with type 1 diabetes or a history of allergic reactions to this medication should not use it. Patients with renal impairment need to adjust the dosage of this medication, so they should take it according to their physician's instructions. While taking this medication, symptoms of hypoglycemia may occur, especially if taken in conjunction with insulin or sulfonylureas, so caution is advised. If severe joint pain or symptoms of skin blistering occur, notify a physician immediately and discontinue use of the medication. Pregnant or breastfeeding women are advised not to take this medication, and safety in children under 18 years has not been established. Elderly patients should undergo regular kidney function tests because renal function may be decreased during use.
