Precautions

This medication should not be used in certain patients. For example, patients who are allergic to this medication, have ulcers in the stomach or duodenum, glaucoma, prostate hypertrophy that leads to urination problems, and premature or newborn infants should not receive this drug. Additionally, patients with hyperthyroidism, cardiovascular diseases, epilepsy, and respiratory diseases should be particularly cautious when using this medication. It can inhibit smooth muscle movement, potentially worsening symptoms in patients with gastrointestinal diseases. During treatment, gastrointestinal symptoms like nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or hypersensitivity reactions such as hives, rashes, headaches, and difficulty breathing may occur, and any abnormal symptoms should be reported immediately. This medication may cause drowsiness, so caution is needed when driving or operating hazardous machinery, and it contains sodium benzoate, which may irritate the skin or eyes. Also, when taken with certain antibiotics, it may reduce the effectiveness of the antibiotics, so it should be taken with at least a 2-hour interval. Caution is required when taken with alcohol or central nervous system depressants as they may enhance drowsiness. Pregnant or nursing women should use this medication cautiously only when absolutely necessary, as its safety has not been sufficiently verified. Elderly patients may have decreased physiological functions, so it should be administered with careful observation of their condition. In case of overdose, central nervous system abnormalities, convulsions, respiratory distress, and heart problems may occur, and medical personnel should be notified immediately; emergency measures such as inducing vomiting or gastric lavage may be necessary.
