This medication is used in patients with essential hypertension whose blood pressure is not well controlled with amlodipine and valsartan combination therapy. Additionally, atorvastatin is used in various patient groups to reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases, such as helping to reduce the risk of myocardial infarction and stroke. Atorvastatin is also effective in controlling cholesterol and triglyceride levels in patients with dyslipidemia. This medication is suitable for patients who need to manage both hypertension and cardiovascular disease risk.

Precautions

This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus and newborn if taken during the second and third trimesters of pregnancy and should be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. If muscle-related issues are suspected or if muscle enzyme levels rise significantly, the use of this medication should be stopped, as there is a risk of serious muscle damage leading to renal failure, requiring caution. This medication should not be administered to patients with certain diseases or conditions, such as those with severely impaired liver or kidney function, pregnant or breastfeeding women, or individuals with specific allergies. Patients with fluid or sodium depletion, hyperkalemia, renal artery stenosis, or those with kidney transplants should use this medication cautiously, with close monitoring before and during administration. Caution is needed when driving or operating machinery as dizziness or fatigue may occur. This medication can affect liver function, so patients with a history of liver disease should consult a doctor before taking it and undergo regular liver function tests. If symptoms of muscle pain, weakness, or fever occur, they should contact a doctor immediately, and discontinuation should occur if abnormalities are found in muscle enzyme testing. There may be interactions with other medications taken with this medication, so patients must inform their doctor or pharmacist of any other medications they are currently taking. Particularly, when taken with potassium-sparing diuretics or potassium supplements, potassium levels may dangerously rise, requiring periodic blood tests. This medication is not recommended for breastfeeding women, and atorvastatin is contraindicated during breastfeeding. Women of childbearing age should use appropriate contraception while taking this medication, and should consult their doctor if planning to become pregnant. While taking this medication, regular examinations are needed for symptoms of abnormal liver function, muscle issues, or changes in blood pressure. Anyone experiencing abnormal symptoms while on medication should consult medical personnel immediately.
