Blood sugar control in type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular risk reduction
This medication is used to assist in controlling blood sugar for patients with type 2 diabetes. It can be administered alone or in combination with dietary and exercise therapies. It is particularly used in patients with cardiovascular diseases or risk factors among those whose blood sugar control is insufficient; for detailed clinical trial information, please refer to professional guidelines. Thus, it is effective in improving blood sugar management in patients with type 2 diabetes.
The recommended dose of this medication is 10mg once daily. This medication can be taken orally at any time of day, regardless of meals. The tablet should be swallowed whole. There may be dosage adjustments based on renal impairment, liver impairment, or age; however, generally, the dosage is 10mg once daily, and in some cases, it may start at 5mg.
This medication should not be used by patients who are allergic to the main ingredient or additives. It should also not be administered to patients with type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis. This medication contains anhydrous lactose and should not be used in patients with lactose intolerance or specific genetic metabolic disorders. Patients with severely impaired kidney function, end-stage renal disease, or those on dialysis should not be given this medication. Due to the risk of acute kidney injury, it should be used with caution in patients with reduced kidney function or blood volume, and can be temporarily discontinued if necessary. It is not recommended for use in patients with severe heart failure. This medication contains specific colorants, and patients allergic to them should take caution. Symptoms of hypoglycemia may occur; when used with insulin or sulfonylureas that induce hypoglycemia, careful monitoring of blood sugar is required. Fluid loss or hypotension may occur, so elderly patients or those on diuretics should have their condition checked periodically. During the use of this medication, there may be an increased risk of genital infections and urinary tract infections; if signs of infection occur, immediate consultation with healthcare providers is necessary. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should not use this medication, and treatment should be discontinued if pregnancy is confirmed. There is no specific antidote in case of overdose; symptomatic treatment should be administered according to symptoms. This medication does not greatly affect driving or machinery operation, but care should be taken if there is a risk of hypoglycemia.

This medication should be stored in a tightly sealed container to avoid exposure to air or moisture. Additionally, it is best to store the medication at room temperature between 1°C and 30°C. Avoid extreme heat or cold.
