This medication is used to relieve cough and phlegm associated with acute and chronic respiratory diseases, such as bronchitis, laryngitis, and nasopharyngitis. It is also effective in treating cough that occurs during epidemics of common colds in children. It helps improve these symptoms and supports respiratory health.

How to take

Adult dose

Adults and children over 12 years: 10 mL once, typically 3 times a day. Adjust according to age and symptoms.

Child dose

Children (3 to 12 years): 5 mL once, typically 3 times a day. Adjust according to age and symptoms.

Precautions

This medication should not be used in certain patients. For example, it should be avoided in patients who are allergic to this medication, have ulcers in the stomach or duodenum, have glaucoma, have obstructive lower urinary tract symptoms due to benign prostatic hyperplasia, or in premature infants and newborns. Moreover, caution should be exercised when used in patients with increased intraocular pressure, hyperthyroidism, peptic ulcers or pyloric duodenal obstruction, cardiovascular diseases, epilepsy, bronchial diseases, and liver diseases, and it is advisable not to administer it to newborns unless absolutely necessary. While taking this medication, gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or hypersensitivity reactions such as urticaria, itching, or rash may occur infrequently. In severe cases, shock symptoms such as difficulty in breathing or low blood pressure may occur, and if abnormal symptoms are observed, the use should be discontinued immediately and appropriate treatment should be sought. Additionally, this medication may cause drowsiness, so it is safe to avoid driving a car or operating dangerous machinery while taking it. This medication contains sodium benzoate, which may cause slight irritation to the skin, eyes, or mucous membranes. This medication may reduce the effectiveness of certain antibiotics when taken together, so it is advisable to take it at least 2 hours apart. Taking it with alcohol or central nervous system depressants may intensify drowsiness. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should use this medication cautiously only if necessary and after consulting a doctor, as its safety is not well established. For the elderly, physical function may be reduced, and administration should be monitored closely. In cases of overdose, central nervous system disorders, seizures, respiratory distress, and cardiac issues may occur, necessitating appropriate emergency care such as inducing vomiting or gastric lavage. Lastly, it is advisable to avoid mixing this medication's solution with other medications.
