View approved original text

This medication is used in conjunction with dietary and exercise therapy to improve blood sugar control in patients with type 2 diabetes. It can be administered alone to patients starting treatment for the first time, and if sufficient blood sugar control is not achievable with monotherapy, it is used in combination with metformin. Additionally, it can enhance blood sugar control when used along with other diabetes medications, including sulfonylureas, metformin, thiazolidinediones, and insulin. If blood sugar control is inadequate despite the use of multiple medications, this drug can be added to improve effectiveness. This variety of treatment methods can effectively enhance blood sugar control in patients.
