This medication is used to reduce total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, apo B, triglycerides, and non-HDL cholesterol levels while increasing HDL cholesterol levels in patients with primary hypercholesterolemia and mixed dyslipidemia. It is primarily administered as an adjunct to a proper diet, and if necessary, lipid-lowering medications are given considering risk factors. It is crucial to first identify and treat any secondary causes such as diabetes, hypothyroidism, etc. Before medication therapy, cholesterol, LDL, HDL, and triglyceride levels should be tested, and appropriate treatment plans can be referenced from lipid levels checked after acute coronary events. In this manner, this medication effectively reduces the risk of cardiovascular diseases and improves blood lipid abnormalities.
