Treatment and prevention of gastrointestinal disorders (ulcers, erosions, etc.), gastroesophageal reflux, and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome
This medication is effective for the short-term treatment of gastric ulcers and duodenal ulcers. It is also used to relieve symptoms such as heartburn and vomiting associated with gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and gastroesophageal reflux. It can also aid in the maintenance therapy for Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, severe gastroesophageal reflux disease, and difficult-to-treat peptic ulcers. It is also used in combination therapy with antibiotics to prevent the recurrence of duodenal ulcers caused by Helicobacter pylori infection, and to treat and prevent gastric and duodenal ulcers or erosions caused by the use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). This drug is very effective for the treatment of gastrointestinal diseases and prevention of recurrence.
1. Adults 1) Gastric ulcer: Administer 20mg of omeprazole orally once daily per dose. If healing has not occurred after the initial 4 weeks of treatment, continue treatment for an additional 4 weeks. In patients who have not responded to other medicines, a dose of 40mg once daily usually results in healing within 8 weeks, although the healing time may vary from patient to patient. If the condition recurs, repeat treatment. 2) Short-term treatment of duodenal ulcer: Administer 20mg orally once daily per dose. If healing has not occurred after the initial 2 weeks of treatment, continue treatment for an additional 2 weeks. In patients who have not responded to other medicines, a dose of 40mg once daily usually results in healing within 4 weeks, although the healing time may vary from patient to patient. If the condition recurs, repeat treatment. 3) Reflux esophagitis: Administer 20mg orally once daily per dose. 4) Zollinger-Ellison syndrome: The initial dose is 60mg orally once daily per dose. Continue treatment with the dose appropriately adjusted for the individual. More than 90% of patients respond to doses of 20 - 120mg daily; if administering more than 80mg daily, divide the dose into 2 doses per day. 5) Maintenance therapy for severe reflux esophagitis and peptic ulcers that are difficult to treat: Administer 20mg orally once daily per dose. If the condition recurs, the dose may be increased to 40mg once daily per dose. 6) Antibiotic combination therapy to prevent recurrence of duodenal ulcers infected with Helicobacter pylori: - Dual therapy: Administer this medicine 20mg and amoxicillin 750 - 1000mg together 2 times daily for 2 weeks. - Triple therapy: Administer this medicine 40mg once daily or 20mg 2 times daily in combination with the following antibiotics. ① Administer clarithromycin 250mg and metronidazole 400mg 2 times daily for 1 week, or ② Administer amoxicillin 1g and clarithromycin 500mg 2 times daily for 1 week. If the treatment response is insufficient, omeprazole monotherapy may be continued. 7) Treatment of symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) (heartburn, regurgitation, etc.): Administer 20mg orally once daily per dose. Healing is generally possible after taking the medicine for 2-4 weeks. 8) Treatment of gastric or duodenal ulcers or erosions caused by nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs): Administer 20mg orally once daily per dose. If healing has not occurred after the initial 4 weeks of treatment, continue treatment for an additional 4 weeks. 9) Maintenance regimen for prevention of gastric or duodenal ulcers or erosions and dyspeptic symptoms caused by NSAID use in patients on long-term NSAID therapy with a history of gastroduodenal lesions: Administer 20mg orally once daily per dose. * When taking this medicine, swallow it whole with at least half a glass of water. Adjust the dose as appropriate according to age and symptoms.

Patients with impaired liver function need to adjust the dosage, especially those with severe liver damage should not exceed 20mg per day. Rarely, hypersensitivity reactions including angioedema or anaphylactic shock may occur, so caution is advised.
