This medication is used to help facilitate sputum excretion and improve symptoms in conditions where sputum production is difficult, such as acute and chronic bronchitis, bronchial asthma, laryngitis, sinusitis, and cystic fibrosis.

How to take

Adult dose

Acute conditions: 200 mg taken three times daily. Chronic conditions: 200 mg taken twice daily.

Child dose

Acute conditions (ages 6 to 14): 200 mg taken twice daily. Chronic conditions (ages 6 to 14): 100 mg taken three times daily. Cystic fibrosis (ages 6 and above): 200 mg taken three times daily.

Precautions

This medication should not be taken by individuals who are allergic to this medication or any of its components. Individuals with ulcers in the stomach or duodenum should not take this medication. Children under 2 years old should not use this medication. This medication contains lactose, so individuals with a genetic condition that prevents lactose digestion should avoid it. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should consult a doctor before taking this medication. Lactating women are also advised to consult an expert since it is not known whether this medication passes into breast milk. If digestive symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, mouth inflammation, heartburn, or diarrhea occur during usage, the medication should be stopped immediately and a doctor should be informed. If symptoms such as hives, itching, rash, headache, tinnitus, or bronchospasm occur, stop taking the medication immediately and consult an expert. Rarely, rapid heartbeat or high blood pressure may occur; if these symptoms arise, stop taking the medication and consult a doctor. If breathing difficulties occur, stop taking the medication immediately and consult medical staff. This medication may reduce the effectiveness of certain antibiotics when taken together, so it is important to maintain at least a 2-hour interval between doses. Avoid mixing other medications with the liquid form of this medication. Keep out of reach of children and store in its original container to help maintain the drug's quality and prevent safety incidents.
