This medication is used to improve symptoms of difficulty in expectoration in cases of acute and chronic bronchitis, bronchial asthma, laryngitis, sinusitis, and cystic fibrosis.

Dosage and Administration

Adult dosage

Acute condition: 200 mg once, three times a day Chronic condition: 200 mg once, twice a day

Children's dosage

Acute condition: 6 to 14 years 200 mg once, twice a day Chronic condition: 6 to 14 years 100 mg once, three times a day Cystic fibrosis: 6 years and older 200 mg once, three times a day

Precautions

This medicine should not be taken by individuals who are allergic to it or any of its components. It is also advisable not to take this medicine if there are ulcers in the stomach or duodenum. Additionally, infants under 2 years of age should not use this medication. Pregnant women or women who may become pregnant should consult a doctor before taking this medicine. Also, nursing mothers should consult a healthcare professional before use as it is unclear whether this medicine is excreted in breast milk. While taking this medicine, gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, stomatitis, heartburn, and diarrhea may occur, so caution is advised. Additionally, allergic reactions such as urticaria, itching, rash, headache, tinnitus, or bronchospasm in asthma patients may occur. Rarely, rapid heartbeat or elevated blood pressure may occur, and very rarely, a severe allergic reaction known as anaphylaxis may happen, so if any unusual symptoms occur, discontinue use immediately and consult a professional. This medicine also has the potential to cause symptoms such as difficulty in breathing, so if such symptoms appear, immediate medical attention should be sought. When taking this medicine together with other oral antibiotics, the effectiveness of the antibiotics may decrease, so it is advisable to take them at least 2 hours apart. Furthermore, it is safe not to mix this medicine's solution with other medications. This medicine should be kept out of reach of children, and stored in its original container to prevent misuse or deterioration of quality.
