View approved original text

This medication is used to treat essential hypertension and heart failure. It can also be used for heart failure patients who have intolerance to ACE inhibitors. Additionally, it helps reduce the risk of death in patients with left ventricular dysfunction after myocardial infarction. Therefore, it plays an essential role in improving survival rates through blood pressure control and enhancement of cardiac function. This medication is used for the management of hypertension and heart failure and to reduce post-myocardial infarction risks.

Essential hypertension: This medication should be taken with water during meals or between meals. It is recommended to take it at the same time every day (e.g., in the morning). Precautions

This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus if taken during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters, so it should be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. Patients with an allergy to this medication or those with severe liver or kidney impairment should not take it. Elderly patients or those with elevated serum potassium levels, as well as patients with mild to moderate liver impairment, should use this medication with caution and may require dose adjustments. Patients with heart failure or those after myocardial infarction should have regular kidney function tests while using this medication, as there can be risks of hypotension or worsening kidney function. In the early stages of treatment, blood pressure may drop too low, causing dizziness or fainting; therefore, it is recommended to start at a low dose and gradually increase, especially in cases of fluid or sodium depletion. Since this medication can increase potassium levels, serum potassium levels should be monitored frequently when used in conjunction with potassium supplements or potassium-sparing diuretics. Caution should be exercised when taking this medication alongside non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), as it can reduce the blood pressure-lowering effect and worsen kidney function. When used with lithium preparations, toxicity may occur due to increased lithium levels; hence, serum lithium levels should be monitored. This medication may cause dizziness when driving or operating machinery, so caution is necessary. Side effects may include headache, dizziness, fatigue, cough, diarrhea, etc., and serious adverse reactions such as angioedema, hepatitis, or kidney failure can occur rarely; immediate consultation with healthcare personnel is needed if symptoms arise. This medication should not be used in children and adolescents, as safety and efficacy have not been established. In case of overdose, severe hypotension, decreased consciousness, or shock may occur, requiring immediate treatment at a hospital. Store this medication in a place out of reach of children, and do not transfer it to other containers as a safety measure.
