Treatment of respiratory (bronchitis, pneumonia) and urogenital (cystitis, gonorrhea) infections
This medication is effective against a variety of bacteria and is used for respiratory infections such as acute and chronic bronchitis, lobar and bronchial pneumonia, empyema, lung abscess, tonsillitis, sinusitis, and otitis media. It is also effective for urinary tract infections such as cystitis, urethritis, and pyelonephritis, as well as pelvic infections and gonorrhea. Furthermore, it is used for skin and soft tissue infections including furuncle, abscess, soft tissue infections, wound infections, bone infections like osteomyelitis, and dental infections. It is a versatile medication that provides therapeutic effects for a wide range of bacterial infections.
For adults and children aged 12 years or older or weighing 40 kg or more: Administer 250 mg/125 mg of amoxicillin/clavulanate potassium orally, three times daily every 8 hours. In cases of severe and respiratory infections, the dose may be increased to 500 mg/125 mg. In cases of renal impairment, adjust dosage according to creatinine clearance. - Creatinine clearance 10 to 30 mL/min: Administer 250 mg of amoxicillin every 12 hours. - Below 10 mL/min: Administer 250 mg of amoxicillin every 24 hours, taking care not to exceed the dose.
For children aged 12 years or older or weighing 40 kg or more: Administer 250 mg/125 mg of amoxicillin/clavulanate potassium orally, three times daily every 8 hours. In cases of renal impairment
This medication belongs to the beta-lactam class of antibiotics and is related to penicillin. This medication should not be used in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to the components of this medication or to beta-lactam drugs, especially in cases of anaphylaxis, severe skin reactions, or shock. Additionally, caution is needed in patients with viral infections such as infectious mononucleosis or lymphocytic leukemia due to an increased risk of rash. Patients with liver dysfunction or those who have experienced liver damage or jaundice from this medication or penicillin in the past should also avoid using it. Patients with impaired liver function or severe kidney diseases may require dosage adjustments and extended dosing intervals due to delayed excretion of this medication. Patients with allergens or family histories of allergies should be cautious as they may experience allergic reactions upon taking this medication. Careful administration is required for patients who have difficulty swallowing, the elderly, or those in poor overall condition due to the risk of bleeding from vitamin K deficiency. Patients with gastrointestinal disorders who experience severe vomiting or diarrhea may not absorb the medication properly. This medication may cause gastrointestinal side effects such as diarrhea, vomiting, and abdominal pain; if severe diarrhea or blood in stool occurs, the medication should be stopped immediately and a doctor should be consulted. Liver dysfunction symptoms may also occur rarely, necessitating caution in elderly patients or those on prolonged therapy. Skin rash, itching, and in severe cases, serious skin reactions such as Stevens-Johnson syndrome, may appear; thus, administration should be stopped immediately if symptoms arise. There have also been reports of hematologic anomalies, renal function anomalies, and central nervous system symptoms, so any unusual symptoms should be reported to healthcare personnel immediately. This medication may interact with other drugs, so it is crucial to inform the doctor or pharmacist of any other medications being taken. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should use this medication with caution, especially during the first three months of pregnancy. It is not recommended for children under 12 years of age or those weighing less than 40 kg due to limited experience with use in this population. Elderly patients may be at a higher risk for adverse reactions due to declining physical functions, necessitating dosage adjustments and monitoring. In case of overdose, gastrointestinal symptoms, renal damage, or allergic reactions may occur, and immediate stopping of the medication and emergency care are required. This medication should be stored in a dry place below 25 degrees Celsius, and a physician's instructions should be strictly followed during use.
Hives, severe swelling (angioedema), chest tightness, difficulty breathing, cold sweat, pallor, anaphylaxis, Stevens-Johnson syndrome (mucocutaneous syndrome), shock, severe rash with high fever, blisters, skin peeling, pain in mucous membranes of mouth/eyes, dyspnea, asthma attacks, respiratory abnormalities accompanied by cough and fever, jaundice (yellowing of skin or eyes), malaise, sudden and severe headache, lightning pain
Diarrhea, pseudomembranous colitis, indigestion, stomatitis, gastritis, glossitis, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, abdominal pain, bloating, constipation, colonic pain, hyperacidity, soft stools, dry mouth, acute pancreatitis, candidiasis, colitis, blood in stool, itching, erythema multiforme, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis, blistering dermatitis, acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis, eosinophilia, fever, rash, arthralgia, edema, lymphadenopathy, hematologic adverse reactions (leukopenia)
