This medication helps prevent the onset of asthma and manage symptoms continuously. It is also used to alleviate symptoms of allergic rhinitis occurring seasonally or throughout the year.

How to take

Adult dose

Adults and adolescents aged 15 years and older, montelukast is taken as 10 mg once daily orally. This medication should be taken 1 hour before meals or 2 hours after meals. Patients with asthma should take it once daily in the evening, while those with allergic rhinitis should determine the timing of the dose according to their condition. Patients with both asthma and allergic rhinitis should take 1 tablet, 1 packet, or 1 film once daily in the evening.

Child dose

Precautions

This medication should not be taken by individuals allergic to this medication or any of its components. Additionally, this medication contains lactose, so those with genetic conditions that prevent lactose digestion should also avoid it. This medication is for patients with asthma or allergic rhinitis and can be used by a wide range of age groups. However, various side effects such as fatigue, headache, abdominal pain, cough, rash, etc., may occur during treatment, so if abnormal symptoms arise, it is essential to consult a doctor. Since this medication is not intended for the treatment of acute attacks of asthma that worsen suddenly, other emergency treatments should be prepared when acute symptoms occur. When used with inhaled corticosteroids, the dosage should be gradually adjusted according to the doctor's instructions, and it should not be suddenly switched to other steroids. During treatment, symptoms from the nervous system may occur, such as anxiety, depression, hallucinations, or suicidal thoughts, so if such changes appear, the patient should inform their doctor immediately. Patients allergic to aspirin or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs should not take those medications concurrently with this drug. During pregnancy or breastfeeding, the safety of this medication has not been fully established, so it should only be taken under a doctor's judgment when necessary. When administering to children, the appropriate dosage and method of use for their age must be followed, and its safety and effectiveness have not been established for infants under 6 months of age. This medication is sensitive to light, so do not open the package until just before taking it, and take it immediately after preparation.
