Prevention of asthma and relief of allergic rhinitis symptoms
This medication is effective in preventing and continuously treating asthma. It is also used to alleviate symptoms of seasonal and year-round allergic rhinitis.
Adults and adolescents aged 15 years and older should take Montelukast as 10 mg once daily orally. This medication should be taken 1 hour before or 2 hours after meals. Patients with asthma and allergic rhinitis should take it once daily at a dose of 1 tablet, pouch, or strip in the evening. The 10 mg orally disintegrating film should be placed on the tongue to dissolve without water.
Children aged 6 to 14 years should take Montelukast as 5 mg once daily, chewing or placing it on the tongue to dissolve without water. Children aged 2 to 5 years should take Montelukast as 4 mg once daily, chewing or placing it on the tongue.
This drug contains aspartame, an artificial sweetener that breaks down into phenylalanine within the body. Therefore, patients with phenylketonuria, a hereditary disease that requires limiting phenylalanine intake, should not take this medication. This medication also contains lactose; thus, patients with hereditary conditions such as galactose intolerance, Lapp lactase deficiency, or glucose-galactose malabsorption should not use it. This medication is used for patients with asthma and allergic rhinitis, and while safety was evaluated in clinical trials, side effects such as fatigue, headache, dyspepsia, cough, and rash were reported in some patients. In particular, severe symptoms such as eosinophilia and vasculitis may rarely occur in asthma patients, so physicians should closely monitor the patient's condition. This medication is not for use during acute asthma attacks, and emergency inhalers should be available in case asthma worsens. Patients who are hypersensitive to aspirin should not take aspirin or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs simultaneously while taking this medication. Pregnant and nursing women should exercise caution when taking this medication, using it only when the necessity is clear. Children and the elderly can also use this medication, but safety and efficacy may differ depending on age, so it should be taken according to a doctor's instructions. In case of overdose, there is no specific antidote, so symptomatic treatment should be provided while monitoring symptoms. This medication is sensitive to light, so it should be opened just before taking and stored out of reach of children. If neurological or psychiatric symptoms or adverse reactions occur during use, consult a doctor immediately.
Hives, severe swelling (edema), angioedema, chest tightness, difficulty breathing, anaphylaxis, cold sweat, pallor, toxic epidermal necrolysis, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, severe allergic reactions, fever with severe rash, blisters, skin peeling, mucous membrane pain in mouth/eyes, severe skin reactions, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, asthma attacks, respiratory distress with cough and fever, breathing problems, jaundice of the skin or eyes

This medication is sensitive to air, moisture, and light, so it must be stored in a tightly sealed container. Additionally, it is recommended to store it at room temperature between 1°C and 30°C. Proper storage can maintain the medication's effectiveness for a long time.
