Precautions

This medication affects the heart and blood pressure, thus should not be used in patients with certain heart conditions. For example, it should not be administered to patients with severe cardiac shock or severe cardiac conduction disorders, patients with pulmonary heart disease, or patients with severely compromised cardiac function. Additionally, this medication may exacerbate symptoms in patients with respiratory diseases such as asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and should therefore be avoided. It is also safer not to use this medication in patients with metabolic abnormalities due to diabetes, patients with severe liver dysfunction, or in women who are pregnant or breastfeeding. Patients with peripheral circulatory disorders or allergic rhinitis should also exercise caution. Careful administration is required in certain patients such as those with diabetes, the elderly, or patients with impaired kidney function. In particular, patients with very low blood pressure or unstable cardiac function require strict observation by a physician during administration. Also, patients who have had allergic reactions to beta-blockers or have specific allergy histories should exercise caution. During administration, symptoms such as dizziness, headache, and fatigue may occur, and sometimes the heart rate may slow down or symptoms of heart failure may worsen. Side effects like liver function abnormalities, decreased blood pressure, shortness of breath, and skin rashes may also occur, requiring immediate consultation with a healthcare professional if unusual symptoms arise. Regular monitoring of cardiac function, blood pressure, and electrocardiogram is required during long-term administration, and the medication should not be suddenly discontinued but gradually reduced under medical guidance. Particularly in patients with angina, stopping the medication suddenly may lead to exacerbation of symptoms, so caution is necessary. This medication may interact with other drugs, so it is essential to inform healthcare professionals of any currently taken medications, especially blood pressure medications, antidiabetic drugs, antidepressants, and calcium channel blockers. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should not take this medication, and it is recommended that it is not used in children and adolescents as its safety and efficacy have not been established. In elderly patients, drug concentrations may increase due to decreased liver function, thus starting at a lower dosage and carefully monitoring the condition is necessary. In cases of overdose, blood pressure may drop rapidly and heart rate may slow, necessitating immediate notification to healthcare professionals for appropriate treatment. This medication should be stored out of reach of children, and it is safer not to transfer it to another container.
