This medication is used as an adjunct therapy when dietary and exercise management is insufficient for patients with primary hypercholesterolemia and mixed dyslipidemia. It also helps lower blood cholesterol levels in patients with homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia and dysbetalipoproteinemia. It lowers LDL cholesterol in hypercholesterolemia patients, delaying the progression of atherosclerosis, and is effective in children aged 10 years and older with familial hypercholesterolemia. This medication reduces the risk of stroke, myocardial infarction, and revascularization procedures in adult patients at high risk for cardiovascular disease. Overall, it is an effective medication for improving cardiovascular health and managing blood lipid levels.
