View approved original text

This medication helps to thin the mucus accumulated in the bronchial tubes during acute and chronic respiratory diseases, making it easier to expel during coughing. This facilitates breathing and alleviates discomfort. By lowering the viscosity of mucus and promoting the smooth elimination of secretions, it enhances respiratory health. It is used to improve symptoms through mucolytic and expectorant actions in acute and chronic respiratory diseases.

Precautions

This medication should not be administered to certain patients. Patients who have had allergic reactions to this drug or its components should not use it. Patients with liver cirrhosis or those with cystathionine synthase deficiency should avoid it since its metabolites may affect methionine metabolism in the body. Patients with peptic ulcers should also avoid using this drug as it may worsen their symptoms. It is also safest for patients with severe renal or hepatic impairment not to use this medication. Patients with mild or moderate liver impairment should take caution not to exceed 300 mg per day while using this product. Diabetic patients or those on a low-calorie diet should be especially careful when using syrup forms of this medication. Additionally, this product contains a dye known as Yellow No. 5, so patients allergic to this ingredient should use it with caution. Overdosage of this medication may result in symptoms such as sweating, dizziness, and facial flushing. Gastrointestinal symptoms such as headache, cold symptoms, respiratory distress, taste alterations, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, and heartburn may also occur. Skin reactions such as urticaria, erythema, and dermatitis may appear. Reported adverse reactions after domestic use include fatigue, dyspepsia, palpitations, facial and general body swelling, and itching. As this medication is an expectorant, taking it along with cough medicine may hinder mucus expulsion, increasing the risk of bronchial infections. Additionally, it may cause bronchospasm, so caution should be exercised when used together. Pregnant or breastfeeding women are advised not to use this medication, as its safety has not been established. Although animal studies have not shown harmful effects on fetal or postnatal development, safety for humans is not confirmed. This medication should be kept out of the reach of children. Moreover, transferring it to another container may alter its quality, so it is preferable to maintain the original packaging.
