Treatment of bacterial infections such as respiratory and urogenital infections
This medicine is effective against various types of bacterial infections. It is used for respiratory infections such as acute and chronic bronchitis, pneumonia, empyema, and lung abscess, as well as for conditions like tonsillitis, sinusitis, and otitis media. Additionally, it helps treat urinary tract infections such as cystitis, urethritis, pyelonephritis, and pelvic inflammatory disease, as well as sexually transmitted infections like gonorrhea. It is also effectively used for abscesses, boils, soft tissue infections, wound infections, osteomyelitis, and dental infections. It is widely used in the treatment of infections caused by various bacteria.
For adults and children aged 12 or older, or those weighing 40 kg or more, the dosage is to take Amoxicillin/Clavulanate Potassium 250 mg/125 mg orally three times a day every 8 hours. In cases of severe and respiratory infections, the dose can be increased to 500 mg/125 mg. In cases of renal impairment, the dose should be adjusted according to creatinine clearance. - Creatinine clearance 10 - 30 mL/min: 250 -
Children under the age of 12 or weighing less than 40 kg are administered with a reduction in the same manner.
This medication is a beta-lactam antibiotic and should not be used in patients who are allergic to any component of this drug or have experienced hypersensitivity reactions to penicillin or cephalosporin drugs. Patients with infectious mononucleosis or lymphocytic leukemia should be particularly cautious, as there is a higher risk of rash when taking this medication. Patients who have experienced liver dysfunction or jaundice due to this medication or penicillin in the past should avoid using it. Patients with liver dysfunction or moderate to severe renal impairment should carefully monitor liver and kidney function when using this medication, and adjust dosing intervals as necessary. Patients with allergic tendencies or frequent symptoms of bronchial asthma or urticaria should also use this medication with caution. Elderly patients or those with a poor nutritional status may have an increased risk of bleeding due to vitamin K deficiency, so caution is advised during administration. Gastrointestinal symptoms such as diarrhea, abdominal pain, and vomiting may occur while taking this medication, and in severe cases, serious colitis such as pseudomembranous colitis may develop, so if symptoms worsen, immediate medical attention should be sought, and drug use should be discontinued. Liver function abnormalities can occur rarely, so patients experiencing symptoms of hepatitis or jaundice should seek immediate medical care, especially the elderly above 60 years of age or males, where this is reported more frequently. Severe skin reactions may occur, including rashes, itching, and in severe cases, Stevens-Johnson syndrome and toxic epidermal necrolysis; if such symptoms occur, drug administration should be stopped immediately and instructions from a doctor should be followed. Rare blood adverse reactions include leukopenia, thrombocytopenia, and hemolytic anemia, so blood tests are advised during prolonged use. Central nervous system abnormalities may rarely present as anxiety, restlessness, drowsiness, or seizures, so consult medical personnel if any abnormal symptoms arise. Renal function may be impaired, so patients with kidney disease require regular assessments, and administration should be stopped if any anomalies are found. This medication can interact with other drugs, so caution is necessary when taken with anticoagulants, probenecid, allopurinol, disulfiram, etc. Pregnant women or those who may become pregnant should carefully consider the risks and benefits of using this medication, especially avoiding it during the first three months of pregnancy. Breastfeeding women should be cautious as this medication can be transmitted through breast milk and may cause diarrhea or allergic reactions in infants; drug use should be stopped if any unusual symptoms occur. It is not recommended for children under 12 years or weighing less than 40 kg due to limited experience. The elderly should administer the drug with caution, adjusting the dosage and intervals due to reduced bodily function. This medication may affect the results of certain clinical tests, such as urine sugar tests, so this should be considered during testing. Overdose may result in gastrointestinal symptoms, renal failure, seizures, etc., so immediate medical attention should be sought, and appropriate treatment should be administered. This medication should be stored in a tight container in a dry place below 25 degrees Celsius, and long-term or unnecessary use may increase the risk of resistant bacteria, so use should be strictly according to a doctor's instructions.
Urticaria, severe swelling (edema), cold sweat, pallor, anaphylaxis, mucocutaneous syndrome (Stevens-Johnson syndrome), shock, severe allergic reactions, high fever with severe rashes, blisters, skin peeling, pain in mucous membranes of mouth/eyes, severe skin adverse reactions, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, asthma attacks, respiratory abnormalities accompanied by coughing and fever, breathing problems, yellowing of skin or eyes (jaundice), and severe systemic reactions.
