This medication is effective against various types of bacteria and is used for respiratory infections such as acute and chronic bronchitis, pneumonia, sinusitis, and otitis media. It is also effective against urinary tract infections such as cystitis, urethritis, and pyelonephritis. It is utilized for the treatment of pelvic infections and gonorrhea and improves skin infections like boils, abscesses, soft tissue infections, and wound infections. It is helpful for the treatment of osteomyelitis and dental infections, making it useful for various infection symptoms.

How to take

Adult dose

Adults are to take 250 mg/125 mg orally three times a day, every 8 hours. In cases of severe and respiratory infections, the dosage can be increased to 500 mg/125 mg per dose. For patients with renal impairment, the dosage should be adjusted according to creatinine clearance: - Creatinine clearance above 30 mL/min: No dosage adjustment needed - 10 to 30 mL/min: 250 mg/125 mg or 500 mg/125 mg every 12 hours

Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients who have had specific allergic reactions. Taking this medication may cause gastrointestinal symptoms such as diarrhea, abdominal pain, nausea, or vomiting, and in rare cases, gastritis or pancreatitis may occur. If severe diarrhea or abdominal pain develops, the medication should be stopped immediately, and a doctor should be consulted. Symptoms of liver dysfunction may also occur, particularly in the elderly or males, and may appear late during or after treatment. Women who are pregnant or possibly pregnant are advised not to use this medication, especially during early pregnancy, and caution is needed while breastfeeding due to potential side effects in infants. This medication is recommended only for children over 12 years or those weighing more than 40 kg, and the elderly should have dosage adjustments and monitoring due to higher risks of side effects from impaired kidney and liver function.
