This medication is used to control blood pressure in patients with essential hypertension. It is also used for heart failure patients who are intolerant to ACE inhibitors, especially those classified as NYHA class II to IV. It helps reduce the risk of mortality after myocardial infarction and aids patients with reduced left ventricular function. This medication is effective in improving symptoms of heart failure and maintaining cardiovascular health. Therefore, it is used for management of hypertension, heart failure, and post-myocardial infarction care.

Precautions

This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus if taken during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters, so discontinue immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant and breastfeeding mothers should not use this medication; it is advisable to avoid use during breastfeeding as well. Do not use in patients with allergies to this medication, severe liver disease, cirrhosis, biliary obstruction, severe kidney impairment, or primary hyperaldosteronism. Elderly patients or those with high potassium levels, impaired liver function, heart valve diseases, or cardiovascular diseases should use this medication with caution. Especially in patients with heart failure or after myocardial infarction, renal function changes should be monitored carefully, and dosage should be adjusted if blood pressure drops too low. When starting this medication, blood pressure may drop suddenly, leading to dizziness or fainting, so it is recommended to start with a low dose and observe the patient's condition. Patients undergoing blood dialysis or those on diuretics, as well as patients on strict salt restrictions, need special caution during administration. This medication can increase blood potassium levels when used with other antihypertensives, some diuretics, or potassium-sparing diuretics, so care should be taken. Taking this medication with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs may reduce blood pressure-lowering effects or worsen kidney function, so caution is necessary. Dizziness or drowsiness may occur during treatment, so caution is needed when driving or operating machinery. In case of overdose, symptoms such as low blood pressure, decreased consciousness, and shock may occur, requiring immediate medical attention. The safety and efficacy of this medication have not been established in children and adolescents, so it is recommended not to use it in individuals under 18 years of age. When storing, keep it out of reach of children and do not transfer to other containers.
