(Reduction of hypertension, cardiovascular disease risk) and (Improvement of hypercholesterolemia)
This medication is used for patients who need to take both Telmisartan and Rosuvastatin simultaneously. Telmisartan treats hypertension and reduces the risk of myocardial infarction, stroke, and death from cardiovascular disease in patients at high risk. Rosuvastatin improves lipid disorders such as hypercholesterolemia, delays the progression of atherosclerosis, and lowers the risk of cardiovascular disease. It especially helps reduce the risk of stroke and myocardial infarction in middle-aged patients at high risk for cardiovascular disease. Therefore, this medication is primarily used to manage both hypertension and hyperlipidemia to improve cardiovascular health.
Telmisartan: For hypertension treatment, the recommended oral dose is 40 mg once daily; it may be effective at 20 mg depending on the patient. If needed, the dose may be increased up to 80 mg once daily. For the purpose of reducing cardiovascular disease risk, the recommended oral dose is 80 mg once daily. Patients with liver impairment should be cautious not to exceed 40 mg once daily. Rosuvastatin Calcium: The initial dose is 5 mg once daily.
This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus and newborn, so it must be stopped immediately if pregnancy is confirmed. Patients with muscle diseases, hereditary angioedema, or severe renal impairment should also not use this medication. Caution should be taken when administering this medication to the elderly or patients with high serum potassium levels or mild liver impairment. This medication can cause musculoskeletal adverse reactions such as myalgia or muscle weakness; if muscle-related symptoms occur, consult a doctor immediately. Regular monitoring of creatine kinase (CK) levels, a muscle damage marker through blood tests, is important. Liver function anomalies may occur, so liver enzyme levels should also be checked periodically.
