Acebrophylline Capsule 100 mg (Acebrophylline)

Adult dose

Adults: Administer 100 mg of acebrophylline orally twice daily.

This medication should not be used in specific patients. Those who have allergies to this medication or its components, or to similar xanthine-based medications, should not take it. Patients allergic to the component ambroxol should also refrain from using this medication. Patients with acute heart problems or those with very low blood pressure should avoid this medication. Patients with severe liver or kidney damage and breastfeeding women are also advised not to take this medication. Additionally, since this medication contains lactose, patients with a hereditary condition that affects lactose digestion should avoid it. Caution should be exercised for patients with a history of heart disease, obesity, epilepsy, gastrointestinal disorders, hyperthyroidism, elderly patients, children, patients with hypertension, severe hypoxia or chronic lung disease, patients with impaired liver and kidney function, and women who are pregnant or may become pregnant. Transitory side effects such as nausea and dizziness may occur when taking this medication, but these symptoms disappear upon discontinuation. Rarely, gastrointestinal symptoms such as dyspepsia, abdominal pain, diarrhea, vomiting, and heartburn may occur. If allergic reactions such as skin rash, itching, facial swelling, or difficulty breathing occur, use must be discontinued immediately. Rare cases of respiratory symptoms or neurological abnormalities have also been reported, so caution is advised. This medication may become toxic if blood concentration is elevated, thus dose adjustments are necessary for elderly patients, those with liver or kidney dysfunction, alcoholics, and those with heart and lung diseases. Interactions may occur when taking this medication with others, particularly related to antibiotics, diuretics, anticonvulsants, and smoking; consultation with a doctor or pharmacist is necessary in such cases. It is generally advisable not to use this medication during pregnancy except in special circumstances, and breastfeeding mothers should not take this medication for safety reasons. Care should be taken when administering this medication to elderly individuals and children, and dosages may need adjustment if necessary. In cases of overdose, severe seizures or heart arrhythmias may occur; immediate medical attention should be sought to receive appropriate treatment. This medication should be stored out of reach of children, and it is advisable not to transfer it to other containers.
