Precautions

This medication contains the artificial sweetener aspartame, which is broken down into phenylalanine in the body. Therefore, it should not be used in patients with phenylketonuria, a hereditary disorder. The daily acceptable amount of aspartame is limited to 40 mg per kg of body weight, so only the minimum quantity should be used. This drug should not be administered to patients with a history of shock due to this drug, and it contains lactose, so it should not be used in patients with galactose intolerance, lactase deficiency, or glucose-galactose malabsorption. Patients with a history of hypersensitivity or allergy to cephalosporin antibiotics, patients who have had hypersensitivity reactions to penicillin antibiotics, or those with allergic conditions should be administered with caution. Patients with significantly impaired kidney function, those who have difficulty in oral administration, elderly patients, and those in poor overall health also require careful monitoring. Rare serious allergic reactions like shock or anaphylaxis may occur during treatment, so symptoms should be closely observed. If any hypersensitivity reactions such as skin rash, urticaria, itching, or fever occur, immediate discontinuation and appropriate treatment should be initiated. Gastrointestinal symptoms may include abdominal pain, diarrhea, and vomiting, and in severe cases, colitis may occur, so the medication should be stopped immediately if symptoms develop. If respiratory symptoms such as shortness of breath, cough, or fever occur, the medication should be discontinued and medical treatment obtained. Blood tests may show leukopenia or platelet abnormalities, so regular monitoring is required during prolonged use. Patients with impaired kidney function may have delayed drug excretion, increasing the risk of side effects, so dose adjustment and observation are important. Severe skin adverse reactions have been reported, so skin conditions should be closely monitored, and medication should be stopped immediately if any abnormal symptoms appear. This medication may place a burden on the kidneys when used in combination with diuretics or other antibiotics, so caution is advised when co-administering. The safety of this drug during pregnancy has not been established, so women of childbearing potential should consult with a physician before use, and breastfeeding women should discontinue breastfeeding. Use in newborns and infants under 2 months of age is not advisable as safety has not been confirmed. Elderly patients are at higher risk for side effects due to decreased bodily functions, so dosage and administration intervals should be adjusted and their condition closely monitored. This drug may affect the results of some clinical tests, so care should be taken in interpreting test results. Once prepared as a suspension, it should be stored in a refrigerator and used within 2 weeks, and it should be shaken well before use to ensure uniformity.
