This medication is helpful for adult patients with vascular health issues. It improves atherosclerosis symptoms when ischemic stroke, myocardial infarction, or peripheral arterial disease is present, thereby enhancing vascular condition. It also reduces the risk of myocardial infarction or stroke in patients with acute coronary syndrome caused by cardiovascular abnormalities. It is effective even for patients who have undergone cardiovascular-related surgeries or procedures. In patients with atrial fibrillation who have vascular risk factors, it helps to reduce the risk of stroke and thrombosis, promoting safe blood circulation. Therefore, this drug is widely used for the prevention and treatment of vascular diseases.

Dosage and Administration

Precautions

This medication is used to prevent platelets from aggregating, thereby inhibiting blood clotting. The effectiveness may be reduced in individuals genetically predisposed to certain enzyme deficiencies, in which case alternative treatment options should be considered. Moreover, caution should be exercised when taking this drug with other medications that activate certain enzymes, as it may increase drug concentration and elevate bleeding risk. Patients with allergies to this medication, severe bleeding, very poor liver function, women who are breastfeeding, and those with lactose intolerance should not take this medication. Patients at high risk of bleeding or those scheduled for surgery should consult a physician before taking this medication, and if bleeding symptoms occur, they should immediately inform the hospital. The risk of bleeding may increase when this medication is taken in conjunction with other anticoagulant drugs, so caution is necessary when used together. During treatment, bleeding may take longer to stop, so it is essential to inform the physician about taking this medication during trauma or surgery. This drug can rarely cause serious side effects, such as a sudden drop in platelet count; therefore, if fever or signs of infection appear, immediate consultation with medical staff is required. Gastrointestinal disorders, diarrhea, headaches, and rashes may occur as side effects, and immediate treatment should be sought if severe bleeding symptoms develop. No effects on the fetus have been reported during pregnancy; however, caution is needed due to the risk of bleeding during delivery. In breastfeeding, since this medication may pass into breast milk, careful consideration should be given to whether to continue taking the medication and breastfeeding. Elderly patients or those with impaired kidney and liver function may be at higher risk of bleeding, thus requiring dosage adjustment and monitoring. Overdosage may increase the risk of bleeding, and since there are no specific antidotes, treatment such as platelet transfusion may be necessary in case of bleeding. This drug should be stored out of reach of children and it is advisable not to transfer it to another container.
