Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients who are hypersensitive to this medication or its ingredients. For diabetic patients, this medication may cause weight gain, so adjusting the dose of hypoglycemic agents may be necessary. Patients with impaired kidney function, the elderly, and women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should use this medication with caution. During treatment with this medication, symptoms such as drowsiness, dizziness, or loss of consciousness may occur, requiring careful monitoring. If these symptoms occur, use should be discontinued or the dose should be reduced. Elderly patients, in particular, are at a greater risk of falls and injuries due to dizziness and should be extra careful. Liver function abnormalities may occur, so if symptoms like fatigue or decreased appetite appear, consult a physician immediately. This medication may cause weight gain, so regular monitoring of weight is advisable, and dietary measures or exercise should be undertaken if necessary. This medication does not completely treat neuropathic pain and should be used alongside treatment of the underlying condition. Suddenly discontinuing use may lead to withdrawal symptoms such as insomnia, nausea, diarrhea, or decreased appetite, so the dose should be gradually reduced. Changes in vision (blurred vision, double vision, etc.) may occur, so the condition of the eyes should be regularly checked. This medication can interact with other drugs, so caution is required especially when taken with probenecid, cimetidine, lorazepam, and alcohol. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should carefully consider the impact of this medication on the fetus, and breastfeeding women should consult a physician as this medication can be passed through breast milk. Elderly patients may have decreased kidney function and may require dose adjustments. There is also a risk of falls in case of side effects such as dizziness.
