For infections caused by pathogens showing severe illness or moderate susceptibility, the dose may be increased up to 4 g (potency) once daily. For the elderly, the adult dosage does not need to be changed.

Child administration

For newborns (within 14 days of birth), administer 20 to 50 mg (potency) per kg of body weight once daily, not to exceed 50 mg (potency) per kg. For infants and children (15 days to 12 years), the dose is based on weight.

Precautions

This medication should not be mixed with calcium-containing solutions or other medications. In particular, for newborns, the combination with calcium can lead to precipitate formation and may pose a risk, thus it must not be administered together. Patients who have had allergic reactions to this medication or have had hypersensitivity to cephalosporins or penicillins should not use it. This medication should also not be used in premature infants or in newborns with bilirubin binding issues, and newborns receiving calcium-containing solutions are contraindicated. Careful administration is required for patients with a history of hypersensitivity or allergy, impaired kidney function, elderly individuals, and those in poor general condition. It is important to regularly monitor liver and kidney function, and blood status during treatment to detect adverse reactions early. This medication may cause side effects such as diarrhea, rash, increased liver enzymes, decreased blood cell counts, and in severe cases may lead to shock or severe skin reactions, necessitating immediate consultation with healthcare providers if symptoms occur. Furthermore, because this medication can interact with other drugs, caution is necessary, especially when used with diuretics, aminoglycoside antibiotics, and vitamin K antagonists. Pregnant or nursing women must consult a physician before using this medication as it may affect the fetus or newborn. There may be side effects like dizziness during driving or operating machinery, so caution is advised. To prevent the occurrence of resistant bacteria, this medication should be used only for the necessary duration, and patients' conditions should be closely monitored afterward. Special caution is needed when using this medication in newborns, preterm infants, and the elderly, and it is safer not to use it due to the risk of bilirubin encephalopathy. Finally, the prepared solution should be used as soon as possible, and care should be taken to maintain the recommended temperature during storage and ensure it is not administered together with calcium-containing solutions.
