Improvement of gastrointestinal diseases such as treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (erosive esophagitis) and prevention of recurrence of Helicobacter pylori positive peptic ulcers.
This medication is used for the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease, especially erosive esophagitis, and for long-term maintenance therapy to prevent recurrence in patients with esophagitis. It is also effective for symptom relief in patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease without esophagitis. It is used in combination with antibiotics for eradication of Helicobacter pylori, as well as for the treatment and prevention of recurrence in patients with duodenal ulcers and peptic ulcers. It is indicated for the short-term treatment of upper gastrointestinal symptoms due to the use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and for patients requiring continuous treatment to prevent gastric and duodenal ulcers. It is also used for the treatment of Zollinger-Ellison syndrome and as maintenance therapy to prevent rebleeding from gastric and duodenal ulcers after intravenous administration. Thus, it is effective in improving various symptoms and complications of gastrointestinal diseases.
