Adults and children over 6 years old should take 5mg of levocetirizine hydrochloride (10mL of liquid), once daily by mouth regardless of meals. Adult patients with renal impairment should adjust the dose according to their kidney function (estimated glomerular filtration rate [eGFR]). eGFR 90 or more or between 60 and 90: 5mg once daily. Between 30 and 60: 5mg every other day. Between 15 and 30: 5mg daily.
Child dose
Children over 6 years old are administered the same dosage as adults: 5mg once daily by mouth. For children aged 2 years and older but under 6 years, the dosage is 1.25mg (2.5mL of the liquid), taken twice daily by mouth.

This medication alleviates the symptoms of seasonal or perennial allergic rhinitis and chronic idiopathic urticaria, and also helps in the treatment of dermatitis and eczema accompanied by itching. It is particularly safe for use in adults and children over 6 years old, effectively reducing discomfort in daily life. It is used to improve the quality of life of patients by relieving these symptoms.

How to take

Adult dose

Adults and children over 6 years old should take 5mg of levocetirizine hydrochloride (10mL of liquid), once daily by mouth regardless of meals. Adult patients with renal impairment should adjust the dose according to their kidney function (estimated glomerular filtration rate [eGFR]). eGFR 90 or more or between 60 and 90: 5mg once daily. Between 30 and 60: 5mg every other day. Between 15 and 30: 5mg daily.

Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients with allergies or hypersensitivity to specific ingredients. Patients with end-stage kidney disease or those receiving dialysis should also avoid taking this medication. It should not be administered to infants under 1 year old, and children under 6 years old should be given the liquid form instead of tablets. This medication can cause various side effects, including drowsiness, fatigue, nausea, headache, irregular heartbeat, allergic reactions, etc. In particular, children may commonly experience fever, diarrhea, and vomiting. Pregnant women should be cautious when using this medication, and breastfeeding women should use it carefully, as adverse reactions may appear in the baby. This medication is primarily excreted through the kidneys, so elderly patients with impaired kidney function should start at a lower dosage and adjust based on their condition. It is advisable to discontinue this medication for a certain period before allergy testing. In case of overdose, symptoms such as drowsiness or agitation may occur, and as there is no specific antidote, symptomatic treatment should be provided. Blood dialysis cannot effectively remove this medication.
