Precautions

This medication is a penicillin-class antibiotic and should not be administered to certain patients. First, individuals with hypersensitivity to this drug's components or penicillin-class antibiotics should not use it. Caution is also necessary for patients with a history of hypersensitivity to cephalosporin-class drugs, and it is advisable not to use this medication in patients with viral infections such as infectious mononucleosis due to the increased risk of rash. This drug contains lactose, so it should not be administered to patients with lactose intolerance or galactose metabolism disorders. Patients with gastrointestinal diseases, allergic constitutions, or severe kidney impairment should be closely monitored while using this medication, and particularly for those with reduced kidney function, the dosing interval should be extended. Elderly patients, those who have difficulty swallowing, and patients receiving parenteral nutrition should be closely monitored due to the risk of bleeding related to vitamin K deficiency. While taking this medication, gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal pain may occur, and in severe cases, pseudomembranous colitis could develop, so administration should be immediately stopped and treated if symptoms appear. Allergic reactions such as skin rash, urticaria, and in severe cases, anaphylactic shock may occur, so drug use should be stopped immediately in the case of unusual symptoms. As it may affect kidney function, appropriate measures should be taken if any kidney-related abnormal symptoms appear. Possible blood-related reactions may require regular blood tests, and if abnormalities are found, administration should be halted. Long-term use may lead to overgrowth of fungi or non-susceptible bacteria, so if symptoms of dysbiosis occur, the drug should be stopped and treated. Skin rash, itching, and severe skin reactions may occur, so careful monitoring is necessary. Liver function abnormalities may also occur, necessitating regular liver function tests. Rarely, neurological symptoms such as seizures, headaches, or aseptic meningitis may occur, so immediate consultation with a healthcare provider is required if these symptoms appear. This medication has not been reported to pose significant risks to the fetus during pregnancy, but should only be used when the therapeutic benefits outweigh the risks. In nursing mothers, the drug components can be excreted in breast milk, so the baby's condition should be monitored. Children or neonates may have delayed drug excretion due to immature kidney function, so it should be administered cautiously. Elderly patients may experience adverse reactions more frequently due to decreased physiological function, so dosage and intervals should be adjusted and monitored. There may be interactions with other medications, so caution is advised, especially when used with methotrexate, probenecid, allopurinol, and oral contraceptives. In case of overdose, neurotoxicity or renal failure may occur, requiring immediate emergency treatment. As with other antibiotics, it is important to only administer this medication for the necessary duration to prevent the development of resistant organisms. Finally, this medication requires careful attention regarding concurrent medications and methods of administration, so it should be taken precisely as directed by a healthcare provider.
