Animal studies during pregnancy have confirmed that this medication can cause genital abnormalities in male fetuses; therefore, women should avoid taking it. This medication is not administered to breastfeeding women, and its safety and efficacy have not been established in children. There is no need for dosage adjustment in the elderly, but the effectiveness in this population has not been thoroughly studied. During treatment, results of blood tests, particularly interpretation of prostate-specific antigen (PSA) levels should be monitored carefully. There is no specific treatment for overdose, but serious adverse reactions are rarely reported in clinical trials with high doses.
