Adult dose
For gastric ulcer and duodenal ulcer: Typically, adults should take 10 mg of rabeprazole sodium orally once a day. Depending on symptoms, it may be increased to 20 mg orally once a day. Treatment duration is up to 8 weeks for gastric ulcer and up to 6 weeks for duodenal ulcer. For erosive or ulcerative gastroesophageal reflux disease: 10 mg or 20 mg should be taken orally once a day for 4 to 8 weeks. If symptoms do not improve, it may be increased to 10 mg or 20 mg orally twice a day for an additional 8 weeks. Note that 20 mg twice a day is for patients with confirmed severe mucosal damage. For symptom relief of gastroesophageal reflux disease: 10 mg should be taken orally once a day. If symptoms are not controlled after 4 weeks, further medical consultation is required. Once symptoms resolve, on-demand therapy using 10 mg once a day can be used to control any recurring symptoms. For long-term maintenance therapy of gastroesophageal reflux disease: Depending on the patient, 10 mg or 20 mg should be taken orally once a day. For Helicobacter pylori eradication: Patients infected with Helicobacter pylori should undergo eradication therapy. This medicine should be administered in combination with clarithromycin 500 mg and amoxicillin 1 g, taken orally twice a day for 7 days. For Zollinger-Ellison syndrome: The recommended initial dose for adults is 60 mg orally once a day. The dose can be adjusted up to 120 mg per day based on individual patient needs. A dose of up to 100 mg can be taken once a day, while a dose of 120 mg should be taken as 60 mg twice daily. Patients with Zollinger-Ellison syndrome have been treated with this medication for up to 1 year. ◯ For patients with hepatic impairment: Abnormal reactions of hepatic encephalopathy have been reported in patients with liver cirrhosis, so use should be approached cautiously. ◯ For children: Safety has not been established in pediatric patients. ◯ For the elderly: Caution is advised due to frequent liver function impairment.

This medication is effective in treating gastric and duodenal ulcers. It is also used to relieve symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease and for long-term maintenance therapy. For gastrointestinal ulcer patients infected with Helicobacter pylori, it is used in combination with antibiotics for treatment. It also helps to control excessive gastric acid secretion in patients with Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. It is widely used for the treatment and symptom improvement of various gastrointestinal disorders.

How to take

Adult dose

Caution is advised when driving or operating machinery as dizziness or drowsiness may occur. There may be interactions with other medications, so be sure to inform healthcare professionals of any medications being taken. Caution is especially needed when used in conjunction with antiviral medications, antibiotics, and anticoagulants. This medicine should not be chewed or crushed but swallowed whole, and it should be stored out of reach of children.
