Effective for the treatment of respiratory infections and urinary tract infections
This medication is used for the treatment of infections caused by various bacteria. It is effective for respiratory infections, excluding acute bronchitis, and community-acquired pneumonia, and can also treat various infections of the ear, nose, and throat. Additionally, it is applicable for urinary tract infections, prostatitis, gonococcal cervicitis and urethritis, gastrointestinal infections, and bile duct infections. This medication can be used to treat infections in various parts including skin, soft tissues, bone joints, gynecological infections, and peritonitis. However, due to the characteristics of fluoroquinolone antibiotics, it is recommended to use this medication only when there are no other treatment options available for acute bacterial sinusitis, acute exacerbations of chronic bronchitis and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, uncomplicated urinary tract infections, and acute otitis media. Overall, this medication is widely used for the treatment of various bacterial infections.
Typically, adults take ciprofloxacin as 250 to 500 mg per dose, administered orally twice a day between meals. In cases of severe complex infections, the dose may be increased to 750 mg per dose, administered twice a day. For acute infections, treatment usually lasts for 5 to 10 days, and even after symptoms have resolved, administration should continue for at least 3 additional days. For patients with kidney impairment, dosing should be adjusted according to creatinine clearance: - > 50 mL/
This medication can cause serious side effects such as tendonitis and tendon rupture; if these symptoms occur, discontinue use immediately. In particular, patients with myasthenia gravis may have worsening symptoms if this medication is taken, so it should not be used. Women who are pregnant, may become pregnant, or are nursing, as well as adolescents under 18 years old, and patients with epilepsy should not take this medication. This medication may interact with certain drugs, so patients should inform their doctor or pharmacist if they are taking other medications. Care should be taken to avoid exposure to strong sunlight or artificial UV light during use, and if photosensitivity reactions such as rash or itching occur, administration should be stopped. Dose adjustment may be necessary for elderly patients or those with poor kidney function, and due to possible changes in blood sugar levels, diabetic patients should closely monitor their blood sugar. Caution is required when driving or operating machinery, and if symptoms of mental instability or depression occur, immediate consultation with a specialist is recommended. If diarrhea or abdominal pain worsens, it may indicate pseudomembranous colitis, and medical personnel should be notified immediately. The safety of this medication has not been established for children, and it is advisable for pregnant and nursing women to avoid its use. In case of overdose, renal function may be affected, and appropriate treatment should be sought at a medical facility immediately. This medication should be stored out of the reach of children and in a cool place away from direct sunlight.
Hives, severe swelling, chest tightness, difficulty breathing, cold sweats, paleness, severe rash with fever, blistering, skin peeling, pain in the oral and ocular mucosa, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, asthma attacks, respiratory distress accompanied by cough and fever, yellowing of skin or eyes (jaundice), extreme lethargy, sudden and severe headache, lightning headache, seizures, confusion of consciousness, visual disturbances, paralysis, significant decrease in urine output.
Fungal superinfection, antibiotic-associated colitis, eosinophilia, thrombophlebitis, leukopenia, anemia, neutropenia, leukocytosis, thrombocytopenia, thrombocytosis, erythrocytopenia, hemoglobin decrease, hematocrit decrease, granulocytopenia, leukocyte lysis, hemolytic anemia, agranulocytosis, pancytopenia, increased INR values, syndrome of inappropriate antidiuretic hormone secretion, allergic reactions, allergic edema.
