Patients with end-stage renal disease or those undergoing dialysis should also not take this medication. Infants under 1 year of age should not be given this medication, and children under 6 years of age should take it in liquid form rather than tablets. Patients with lactose intolerance or related genetic disorders should not take this medication. Patients with reduced renal or liver function, as well as the elderly, should take this medication cautiously due to the possibility of increased body concentration of the drug. This medication may cause neurological symptoms such as drowsiness, headache, dizziness, and fatigue. Gastrointestinal symptoms such as dry mouth, nausea, and abdominal pain may occur. Irregular or rapid heartbeats could occur, and rarely, reactions such as changes in blood cell counts may also happen. Allergic reactions like skin rashes or swelling can occur, so caution is advised. Symptoms such as blurred vision or redness of the eyes may appear. Regular tests may be needed as the liver and kidney function test results can change. Drowsiness or fatigue may occur after taking this medication, so caution is advised when driving or operating machinery. Alcohol or other central nervous system depressants should be avoided as they may increase drowsiness. Patients with urinary elimination issues should take caution with this medication, and those with epilepsy should be cautious as their condition may worsen. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should consult their doctor before taking this medication, as it may affect the baby through breast milk, requiring careful attention. Children and the elderly may require dosage adjustments based on renal function, and particularly the elderly should start at a lower dose. Before allergy testing, this medication should be discontinued for a certain period as it may affect the test results. In case of overdose, symptoms such as drowsiness or anxiety may occur, and since there is no specific antidote, treatment should be symptomatic.
