Precautions

This medication should not be used by patients with known allergies to certain ingredients or a history of such reactions. Patients with end-stage kidney disease or those undergoing hemodialysis should not take this medication. It should not be administered to infants under 1 year of age, and children under 6 years should only use the liquid form. The liquid formulation contains maltitol, so patients who have a hereditary fructose intolerance should avoid it. Caution is advised for patients with kidney or liver issues, and elderly patients as the drug concentration may increase. Use may cause central nervous system effects such as drowsiness, headache, and dizziness. Gastrointestinal symptoms may include dry mouth, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea. Rapid or irregular heartbeat may occur, and there may be changes in blood cell counts related to blood. Hypersensitivity reactions may manifest as rashes, itching, or swelling. Eye symptoms such as blurred vision or redness may occur. Regular monitoring may be required due to potential liver and kidney impacts. Drowsiness or fatigue may develop after taking this medication, so caution is needed when driving or operating machinery. Avoid combining it with alcohol or central nervous system depressants as this may intensify drowsiness. Patients with urinary excretion disorders should be extra cautious. Individuals with epilepsy or a risk of seizures should carefully consider usage as symptoms may worsen following consumption. The liquid formulation contains preservatives and sweeteners that may trigger allergic reactions or impact health. Avoid taking this medication with alcohol as it may increase central nervous system depressant effects. Pregnant women should consult with healthcare professionals due to limited safety data of this medication. Breastfeeding mothers should also be cautious as this medication may excrete into breast milk and impact the infant. Children and elderly patients may require dosage adjustments due to potential increased drug concentrations from renal function decline. It is advisable to discontinue this medication prior to allergy testing for accurate results. Symptoms of overdose may include drowsiness, restlessness, and agitation, and no specific antidote exists, so treatment should be symptomatic. This medication is not removed by hemodialysis, making caution necessary in cases of overdose.
