Improvement in blood pressure control for essential hypertension

  • Essential hypertension
View approved original text

Amlodipine and Olmesartan Medoxomil are medications used together to effectively lower blood pressure in patients with essential hypertension. These two components work together to help dilate blood vessels and stabilize blood pressure control. When blood pressure is not adequately managed with a single medication, this combination therapy plays a crucial role in blood pressure management. Therefore, this drug combination is used to improve essential hypertension.

Precautions

This medication should not be used during the second and third trimesters of pregnancy. If pregnancy is confirmed, discontinue immediately. Patients who are allergic to this medication, its components, or similar drugs should not take it. Patients with severe hypotension, serious heart valve disease, unstable cardiac conditions after acute myocardial infarction, or severe kidney or liver dysfunction should not use this drug. Patients with certain electrolyte imbalances, such as hyponatremia, hypokalemia, hypercalcemia, or those with gout and certain endocrine disorders should use this medication cautiously. Patients with low blood volume or those on high doses of diuretics may experience hypotension upon initial use; therefore, their condition should be closely monitored. This medication can affect kidney function, so patients with impaired kidney function should have regular blood tests to monitor kidney status and electrolyte levels. It is not recommended for patients with severe liver dysfunction; those with liver disease should use it carefully. Because this medication lowers blood pressure, elderly or cardiovascular disease patients should be vigilant for dizziness or hypotension symptoms while taking it. During the course of treatment, there may be interactions with other medications, so please inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking any other drugs. Breastfeeding women are advised against taking this medication; if necessary, breastfeeding should be discontinued or discussed with a physician.
