Precautions

This medication is used to treat asthma and allergic rhinitis. During treatment, there may be abnormal effects on the central nervous system. If symptoms such as agitation, anxiety, depression, hallucinations, or suicidal thoughts occur, consult a physician immediately. This medication contains the artificial sweetener aspartame; therefore, patients with phenylketonuria, a genetic disorder, should avoid using it. Since lactose is included, patients with lactose intolerance or related genetic diseases should not use this medication. This medication is not used to treat acute asthma attacks; therefore, an emergency treatment medication should be used if acute symptoms appear. Patients with hypersensitivity to aspirin or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs should not take these medications concurrently. While using this medication, the dosage of inhaled corticosteroid preparations may be gradually reduced, but abrupt discontinuation should be avoided. Do not use it alone for the treatment of exercise-induced bronchospasm; inhaled β-agonists should be continued as needed. There is no specific antidote for overdose, so general treatment is necessary including removing the medication from the gastrointestinal tract and monitoring symptoms. If pregnant or breastfeeding, consult with a physician before taking this medication, and it should be used cautiously, especially in early pregnancy. Avoid using this medication in young children, particularly infants under 6 months, as safety and efficacy have not been established. Elderly patients can generally use it safely, but individual reactions may vary, requiring caution. During treatment, do not arbitrarily reduce or discontinue other asthma medications unless directed by a physician. If psychiatric symptoms occur while taking this medication, notify a physician immediately, especially if there are changes in behavior or suicidal thoughts. Keep out of reach of children, and avoid transferring to other containers.
