This medication can be used for the treatment of essential hypertension. It helps effectively manage blood pressure when Telmisartan alone is not sufficient for blood pressure control. This contributes to maintaining stable blood pressure and reducing the risk of complications.

How to take

Adult dose

Patients who do not achieve adequate blood pressure control with sole Telmisartan can take this medication once daily with or without food. The Telmisartan/Hydrochlorothiazide combination 40/12.5 mg can be administered to patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled with 40 mg of Telmisartan alone. The Telmisartan/Hydrochlorothiazide combination 80/12.5 mg can be administered to patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled with 80 mg of Telmisartan.

Child dose

The safety and efficacy of this medication have not been established for children under 18 years of age.

Precautions

This medication should not be used during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters, as it can cause serious harm to the fetus. Patients who are allergic to the active ingredient or additives of this medication, or who have allergies to certain sulfonamide-class drugs, should not take this medication. Patients with severe liver or kidney dysfunction, those with obstructive biliary diseases, pregnant women in the second and third trimesters, and nursing mothers should not take this medication. Elderly patients, those with hyperkalemia, liver dysfunction, heart valve diseases, and renal vascular hypertension should use this medication with caution, and blood pressure should be monitored to avoid hypotension. The Hydrochlorothiazide component can make the skin sensitive to sunlight and increase the risk of skin cancer, so sun exposure should be avoided while taking this medication, and any skin abnormalities should be reported to a doctor immediately. While taking this medication, symptoms such as dizziness, drowsiness, and blurred vision may occur, so caution should be exercised when driving or operating machinery. Electrolyte imbalances may occur, so regular blood tests should be performed to monitor potassium, sodium, and magnesium levels. There may be interactions when taken with other antihypertensives, diuretics, lithium, certain antiarrhythmics, and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, so notify your doctor or pharmacist. In case of overdose, hypotension, electrolyte abnormalities, and dehydration may occur, so the dosage must be strictly adhered to, and if any unusual symptoms arise, medical consultation should be sought immediately. Safety and efficacy in children have not been established, so its use is not recommended. This medication should be stored out of reach of children, and it is advisable not to transfer it to another container.
