View approved original text

This medication is used for patients who need to take two medications, telmisartan and rosuvastatin, simultaneously. Telmisartan primarily treats essential hypertension and helps reduce the risk of myocardial infarction, stroke, and death due to cardiovascular disease in high-risk cardiovascular disease patients. Rosuvastatin is used as an adjunct to diet for primary and mixed hyperlipidemia, as well as familial hypercholesterolemia patients, lowering total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol to slow the progression of atherosclerosis. Additionally, it is effective in reducing the risk of stroke, myocardial infarction, and arterial revascularization in high-risk cardiovascular disease patients. Therefore, this medication is used to manage both hypertension and hyperlipidemia while lowering the risk of cardiovascular disease.

This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus and newborn if given to pregnant women, so it should be discontinued immediately if pregnancy is confirmed. This medication should not be used in individuals with hypersensitivity to its components, pregnant or breastfeeding women, and fertile women who are not using effective contraception. It should not be administered to patients with severe liver dysfunction, problems with bile excretion, or specific muscle diseases. It is also deemed safe not to use in patients with severe renal impairment or when combined with specific immunosuppressants. Elderly patients, those with high serum potassium, patients with mildly impaired liver function, and patients with cardiovascular or gastrointestinal diseases should use this medication with caution. Muscle-related side effects such as myalgia or muscle weakness may occur, so patients should consult their physician immediately if any unusual symptoms arise. During the use of this medication, regular liver function tests and muscle enzyme tests should be carried out, and if any abnormal findings are observed, treatment may be discontinued. This medication can enhance the blood pressure-lowering effects when used in conjunction with other antihypertensive agents, so blood pressure and renal function should be closely monitored. Particular care should be taken if this medication is used with potassium-sparing diuretics or potassium supplements, as this can dangerously elevate potassium levels in the blood. This medication can affect liver or kidney function, so patients with these organ diseases should consult healthcare professionals before use. Additionally, since this medication may interact with some drugs, patients should inform their physician if they are taking other medications. Pregnant women or those planning to become pregnant should avoid this medication, and if pregnancy is confirmed while taking it, they should discontinue immediately. Breastfeeding women should also avoid this medication, and if necessary, discontinue breastfeeding. Safety and efficacy in children are not established, so it is not recommended for pediatric use. In case of overdose, symptoms such as hypotension, dizziness, and acute renal failure may appear, necessitating immediate medical attention. This medication may cause drowsiness or dizziness, so care should be taken when driving or operating hazardous machinery.
