Treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (including erosive reflux esophagitis), eradication of Helicobacter pylori, prevention of recurrence of peptic ulcers, and relief of gastrointestinal symptoms related to non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.
This medication is used for the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease, particularly for maintenance therapy to prevent recurrence of erosive reflux esophagitis. It is also effective for the treatment of duodenal ulcers and peptic ulcers in patients with Helicobacter pylori infection and for preventing recurrence. It helps in the treatment and prevention of upper gastrointestinal symptoms and gastric ulcers associated with the use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. It is used in the treatment of Zollinger-Ellison syndrome and for maintenance therapy after preventing rebleeding from gastric or duodenal ulcers. This medication is very effective in improving and treating symptoms of gastrointestinal diseases.
This medication should be taken whole with liquids such as water and not chewed or crushed. 1) Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) - Treatment of erosive reflux esophagitis: 40 mg once daily for 4 weeks. - Long-term maintenance therapy to prevent recurrence in patients with esophagitis: 20 mg once daily. - Symptomatic treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease without esophagitis: 20 mg once daily. Symptomatic relief.
Adolescents aged 12 years and older 1) Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) - Treatment of erosive reflux esophagitis: 40 mg once daily for 4 weeks. - Symptomatic treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease without esophagitis: 1
This medication should not be used in certain patients. It should not be administered if there is an allergy or history of hypersensitivity to this drug or its components, or to benzimidazoles. Additionally, antibiotics used for the eradication of Helicobacter pylori, such as penicillin or macrolide antibiotics, should not be taken in conjunction with this drug in case of allergy. Patients taking certain heart-related medications or antiviral drugs, as well as nursing women and patients with a history of myocardial infarction, should not use this medication. This drug contains Yellow No. 5 dye and should be used cautiously in patients allergic to this component. Various adverse reactions may occur when taking this drug, thus caution is required. For example, blood-related issues, allergic reactions, electrolyte imbalances, mental symptoms, gastrointestinal problems, skin rashes, muscle pain, etc., may occur. Particularly with long-term use, electrolyte abnormalities such as hypomagnesemia may arise, necessitating regular tests. Since this medication suppresses gastric acid secretion, it may slightly increase the risk of some bacterial infections. Therefore, if diarrhea symptoms persist, consult a physician. Prolonged use at high doses may increase the risk of fractures, so patients at risk of osteoporosis should be cautious. This medication can interact with several drugs, so if taking other medications, it is essential to inform your doctor or pharmacist, particularly regarding care when using in conjunction with warfarin, methotrexate, antiviral drugs, certain antibiotics, clopidogrel, etc. Due to limited safety data regarding this drug during pregnancy, it should be used cautiously, and its use is not recommended during breastfeeding. In the event of overdose, no specific antidote is available, so treatment should be symptomatic, and it should be kept out of reach of children. Lastly, if using this medication for an extended period or if symptoms change, it is advisable to consult a physician and to take the minimum effective dose and duration.

Headache, dizziness, sensory abnormalities, drowsiness, taste disorders, blurred vision, bronchospasm, abdominal pain, constipation, diarrhea, abdominal distension, nausea, vomiting, dry mouth, oral mucositis, gastrointestinal candidiasis, increased liver enzymes, hepatitis, dermatitis, itching, rash, hair loss, photosensitivity, fractures, arthralgia, myalgia, nephritis, gynecomastia, asthenia, increased sweating, Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhea, abdominal bloating, allergic reaction, etc.
