Treatment of digestive diseases such as gastric and duodenal ulcers, and gastritis
This medication is used to treat gastric and duodenal ulcers, gastritis, Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, and gastroesophageal reflux disease. It is also effective for ulcers that may occur after surgery and for gastric and duodenal ulcers caused by non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). It is sometimes administered to prevent Mendelson's syndrome before anesthesia. It is a medication that helps improve various digestive diseases.
Typically, take one tablet twice daily, regardless of meals, in the morning and before sleep. 1) Gastric and duodenal ulcers: Take one tablet twice a day or take two tablets once a day before sleep. Especially for duodenal ulcer patients, taking two tablets twice a day in the morning and before sleep may achieve a higher treatment rate. The dosage is the same for the concomitant therapy to prevent ulcer development associated with NSAIDs or long-term NSAID use. Typically, diseases caused by NSAID use heal within 4 weeks, but in some cases may take longer depending on the patient. For patients with recurrent ulcers, who had excellent outcomes with this drug in short-term therapy, the maintenance therapy is to take one tablet once a day before sleep. 2) Gastroesophageal reflux disease: For 8 weeks, take one tablet twice a day or take two tablets once a day before sleep. For severe gastroesophageal reflux disease patients, the dosage may be increased to two tablets four times a day. 3) Zollinger-Ellison syndrome: Start treatment with an initial dose of one tablet three times a day and may adjust the dosage as needed. In cases of severe illness, as per the physician’s instructions, up to 6 g of ranitidine can be administered per day. 4) Peptic ulcer, acute stress ulcer, and upper gastrointestinal bleeding from acute mucosal lesions: Once oral administration is possible, switch from injection to oral and take one tablet twice a day. 5) Pre-anesthetic administration (prevention of Mendelson's syndrome): Take one tablet 2 hours before inducing anesthesia. Ideally, on the night before surgery, one tablet should also be taken.
