Caution is advised in patients with impaired kidney or liver function, and elderly patients should use it carefully. In clinical tests, some patients may experience CNS symptoms such as drowsiness, headache, and dizziness, as well as gastrointestinal symptoms like dry mouth, nausea, and diarrhea. There may also be changes in blood counts or liver function tests, and hypersensitivity reactions such as skin rashes or swelling may occur. Drowsiness may occur while taking this medication, so care should be taken when driving or operating dangerous machinery. For patients who have undergone long-term steroid therapy, the dosage of steroids should be gradually adjusted when taking this medication. In patients with decreased kidney function, blood levels of the drug may increase, so starting with a lower dose is necessary; if adverse symptoms occur, dose adjustment or discontinuation may be required. The efficacy of this medication in patients with seasonal allergic rhinitis has not been sufficiently studied, so it should be used with caution and it is advisable to start taking it before the allergic season begins and continue until the season ends. If there is no effect, it is preferable not to continue taking it for long periods. Like other antihistamines, this medication should not be taken with excessive alcohol consumption. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant are advised against using this medication, and if it must be used, it should be done cautiously under a doctor's guidance. Women who are breastfeeding should avoid taking this medication, as it may pass to breast milk. The safety of this medication in children has not been fully established, so caution is advised. Elderly patients should be careful about use due to the increased risk of drug concentrations due to decreased kidney function. This medication can affect allergy tests, so it is advisable not to take it before such tests. When taking this medication, the tablet should be removed from the PTP packaging, as swallowing it in the packaging can cause esophageal damage.
