This medication is used to treat various bacterial infections. It is effective for treating respiratory infections such as acute and chronic bronchitis, lobar and bronchopneumonia, empyema and lung abscesses, tonsillitis, sinusitis, and otitis media. It is also used for treating urinary tract infections such as cystitis, urethritis, and pyelonephritis as well as pelvic infections and sexually transmitted diseases like gonorrhea. It is useful for skin and soft tissue infections like boils, abscesses, cellulitis, and wound infections, and is effective for osteomyelitis and dental infections. This drug exhibits a broad-spectrum antimicrobial action targeting a variety of pathogens, including several resistant strains, making it reliable for infection treatment. Therefore, it is used for the improvement of symptoms related to the respective bacterial infections.

How to take

Adult dose

For recurrent tonsillitis and other upper respiratory infections, lower respiratory infections, urinary tract infections, and skin and soft tissue infections of mild to moderate severity, take 20 mg/5 mg per kg of body weight divided into three doses daily. For middle ear infections, sinusitis and other upper respiratory infections, severe pneumonia, and urinary tract infections, take 40 mg/10 mg per kg of body weight divided into three doses daily. Precautions

This medication contains the artificial sweetener aspartame, which should not be used in patients with a genetic disorder called phenylketonuria. Caution should be taken not to exceed the daily maximum allowable dosage of aspartame. Patients who are allergic to any ingredient in this medication or to beta-lactam antibiotics, especially those with a history of hypersensitivity, should not use it. Additionally, patients with infectious mononucleosis or lymphocytic leukemia should be cautious as the risk of rash may increase. Patients with liver dysfunction or moderate to severe impairment of kidney function should use this medication cautiously, and dosing intervals may need adjustment. Patients with allergic constitutions or gastrointestinal diseases also require caution. If unusual symptoms such as diarrhea, abdominal pain, skin rash, or difficulty breathing occur while taking this medication, use should be immediately discontinued and medical attention should be sought. Particularly, serious gastrointestinal side effects like pseudomembranous colitis may develop and careful monitoring is required. Rare side effects such as liver dysfunction, blood disorders, renal dysfunction, and central nervous system issues may occur, so regular check-ups are necessary with long-term use. This medication can interact with other drugs, especially anticoagulants, certain antibiotics, and anti-inflammatory drugs, so caution is required when used in combination. If you are taking any other medications, you must inform your physician or pharmacist. Women who are pregnant or nursing should carefully consider the necessity and risks of treatment with this medication, and it is advisable to avoid use particularly during the first three months of pregnancy. This medication should not be used in very young infants, especially those under 2 months of age, as its safety has not been established. Elderly patients should be monitored and have the dosage and administration intervals adjusted cautiously due to the increased risk of side effects from decreased physiological function. This medication should be shaken well before use and stored in a refrigerator after preparation, to be completed within 7 days. In case of overdose, symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhea, rash, drowsiness, and in severe cases, renal failure or seizures may occur, so immediate consultation with medical personnel is necessary.
